* *Setup for Linux*

If you're on Linux you can probably figure out how to install these
on your own using your distro's package manager. I'm familiar with
Debian based systems (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian) so if you have
any questions let me know.

You will need the following programs: g++, make, gdb, git.

You will also need a code editor
- My examples will be using VS Codium ([[https://vscodium.com/]])
  because it works on Windows and Mac as well, but honestly I
  don't like VS Code IDEs and I prefer emacs.

Just complete the Canvas assignment as well,
"🛠️ Linux setup - IDE, Source Control, and Dev Tools install"

* *Setup for Mac*

Go to the App Store and install XCode.

We aren't going to be using XCode as our IDE, but installing this
will install all the other tools we need.

Afterwards, install VS Codium (preferred: [[https://vscodium.com/]]) or
VS Code ([[https://code.visualstudio.com/download]]).

View the testing steps in the Canvas assignment,
"🛠️ Mac setup - IDE, Source Control, and Dev Tools install"

* *Setup for Windows*

You will need to install g++, make, and gdb via the MinGW installer:
[[https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/]].

Set your Windows Environment Variables PATH to include =C:\MinGW\bin=.

Afterwards, install VS Codium (preferred: [[https://vscodium.com/]]) or
VS Code ([[https://code.visualstudio.com/download]]).

Also install Git: [[https://git-scm.com/downloads]]

For step-by-step instructions, view the Canvas assignment,
"🛠️ Windows Setup - IDE, Source Control, and Dev Tools install".

* *All - Setting up and configuring Git*

See the Canvas assignment for step-by-step instructions:
🛠️ All Setup - Git and GitLab

You will need to work on the assignment and let the instructor know
your GitLab username after registering.
